Stroke Recovery Rehabilitation: How Maplewood Sauk Prairie Helps You Get Back to the Life You Love
May 13, 2026A simple online job posting recently brought us something we never expected: a window into the world. Four bright, deeply motivated women from four different countries chose to bring their lives, their families, and their gifts to Maplewood Sauk Prairie. We could not be more grateful.
Welcome, Sherie Ann, Fabiana, Cristelle, and Jite.
Four Countries, One Shared Heart
Their backgrounds read like a small library of life experiences. Before coming to the United States, these women built careers in teaching, firefighting, culinary arts, linguistics, and nursing. They come from Venezuela, Haiti, Nigeria, and the Philippines, each shaped by a different culture, language, and rhythm of daily life.
What connects them is purpose. Each one of them made the brave decision to uproot her life, move across the world, and start over so her family could have a brighter future. After arriving in America, they completed CNA and Medical Assistant training, and they now call Sauk Prairie home.
Trading Big Cities for Small-Town Wisconsin
The move was not small. Going from bustling, multicultural international hubs to a quieter stretch of rural Wisconsin took some adjusting. And the winters? Let’s just say the first Wisconsin January came as a shock.
But what Sauk Prairie may lack in size, it more than makes up for in heart. These women have shared how quickly they felt safe here, how warmly their neighbors welcomed them, and how the local schools have helped their children thrive. The community wrapped around them in ways they did not expect, and it has made all the difference.
A Natural Fit at Maplewood
Inside our halls, these four have become essential to the rhythm of daily life. They are cross-trained across every wing of our facility, which means they care for residents wherever the need is greatest. They bring patience, energy, and a natural gift for connecting with the seniors who call Maplewood home.
Some are also taking the next step through Maplewood’s scholarship program, which is helping them work toward becoming nurses. The encouragement of their coworkers and the support of our leadership team have given them a foundation to keep growing. We are honored to be part of that journey.
